So, I know Steve didn’t name any names, but I did feel a little guilty
after reading his post, so I figured I’d give you all a little
something.
So, today’s Valentine’s Day…yay! It’s actually weird because it
doesn’t really feel like V-Day at all. Cory and I somewhat
celebrated on Saturday, which I will get to momentarily, and we don’t
really have much planned for today, so it’s just kind of a weird
feeling. However, we do have a nice romantic dinner at Subway
planned during his break tonight (yes, C’s working tonight, on
V-Day). But yeah, I’m gonna go visit him on his break and then
I’ll see him around 9:30 when he gets home. I wasn’t going to do
anything special tonight since we celebrated on Saturday, but I think I
may have a little surprise or two waiting for him after work.
So, about Saturday…Saturday was a day I had been looking forward to
for almost two months. One word….Emery! For those of you
who don’t know, Emery is an AMAZING band…and I mean AMAZING!
They are by far one of my favorite bands right now, so I was
all-encompassingly () excited to see
them. So, Cory and I decided a few months ago that we’d go to the
concert as our V-Day date. (Cory always jokes with me about how
he knows he’s found the girl of his dreams because she wants to go to a
hardcore show for V-Day.) So, we
left B-Town around 4ish, which was supposed to be 3:30, but I was
running a little late, imagine that…; ) We got to Indy and
somehow got lost, well not really lost, we just missed our exit.
We both got a little frustrated, but it was all good in the end.
We went downtown and ate at The Ram which was really really good.
We left there and headed towards the Emerson. We got there a
little earlier than we wanted to, so we had to sit (well, actually
stand) through the first two bands. Then Emery came on.
They were SO awesome! Yeah, that’s pretty much all I can say
about them…awesome! We decided not to stay for Eighteen Visions
since we were both really tired and didn’t really know any of their
stuff, so we just headed home. All in all, it was a fun
night. Cory and I hadn’t gone out in a while, so it was nice to
get all prettied up and go out to dinner…and then go to a hardcore
show still all prettied up. That was the only downfall of going
to the concert as our V-Day date…we both made an effort to look
really nice for dinner, but then we felt really retarded at the show,
but that’s what made it fun!
Yesterday was an exciting day at “work.” (I like to put the words
“work” or “my job” in parenthesis since it feels more like fun than a
job.) The morning was going really good so far. We’ve been
having some problems getting the kids to settle down and listen when I
talk, so I tried a few new things yesterday and it seemed to be working
rather well. The kids were singing and dancing and screaming when
it was time to sing, dance, and scream, but then they were actually
pretty quite when it was “my turn to talk.” So, I was pretty
excited. We were getting ready to sing the very last song and I,
actually Cory, had made up five little hearts that spelled out Jesus to
use during the song. I had five volunteers come up and hold the
hearts as we sang Your Love is Amazing. I was looking the other
direction for some reason and all of a sudden, I heard this huge
“splat” noise. I was like “Oh, God, please no…” But, sure
enough, Jarret, the little boy who was holding the J, had vomitted all
over the place. It was horrible… Now, normally, this
wouldn’t be a huge deal, but I have a very weak stomach. If I see
someone throw up and I get to close to them, I throw up. You
mention anything about something like this to my dad, and he will
immediately tell you about the time that he took that nasty green,
gooey, slime stuff and pretended to sneeze and then pretended that the
slime was snot. Upon seeing this, I vomitted all over the
place. Now, I was only like 5 mind you, but my stomach has not
improved too much over the years, especially when it comes to
vomit. So, the kids gets sick, and I go to the other side of the
room and just try not to look anywhere close to where the sick child is
because I knew that I would get sick if I saw anymore. I went and
got one of the other volunteers, who is a mom so she knows what she’s
doing, and told the little boy to come towards us and go to the
restroom. He then starts to get sick again, so Karla, the amazing
mom, got a towel and made it to him in time. All this time, I’m
just standing in the back, telling Cory to go get me a cup of water or
I’m going to throw up…I don’t know how I’m going to survive
motherhood…Anyway, I then had to calm all of the kids down because
they were all going crazy because of the excitement. They
eventually calmed down and we were able to finish the lesson and what
not. *Sigh* that was just one thing I hope I don’t have to
experience a whole lot, even though I know I will because I’m going to
be a teacher.
Last night was pretty fun, too. I planned a little V-Day party
for the kids, so we decorated cookies and made Valentines. Cory
and I had gone to Wal-Mart earlier that day and made little treat cups
for all the kids. It kinda sucked because we only had about half
as many kids show up as we usually do, so we had tons of
left-overs. But, I don’t think the RAW/24 crew will mind much
tonight.
So, there you go, that’s what I’ve been up to lately. I lead such
an exciting life! I start field experience this week, which I am
excited about. I get to travel to Center Grove Elementary School
in Greenwood and work with 4th graders. I think this is going to
be a lot of fun, so I’m really excited. I have had a little more
“deep” thoughts as of lately, and thanks to a xanga site I was reading
earlier, I was able to get some of those thoughts straightened
out. I was going to post it all on here, but instead, you can
just go see Nicole and read the comment I left of her Feb. 13th post. That pretty much says it all.
In closing, there is another coffee house night here at the CSF house
coming up on the 4th of March and I do believe Souls Harbour is going
to attempt to make an appearance, so stay tuned.
It’s always great to get a new post from you Kim — and on top of that you managed to take a post that would normally be a no-go for me about Valnetine’s Day and dates and vomiting children and make it one that brought a huge smile to my face with two simple words — The Ram. The Ram holds a very special place in my heart in part because, well, it’s just a great place, and in part because for four straight years I ate there at least once with Rob during Christmas Conference. It was always a highlight of the week for me as it meant great food and great company. It was even a “Horsemen Dinner” one year which was extra special. I could probably make a whole post, but I leave you and anyone brave enough to read this comment with my love of The Ram. And thanks to you and Cory for your amazingly loving words on my b-day, they also brought a smile to my face.
