So, Dad wasn’t able to come home today. He and Mom talked to his
heart doctor today, and they want to keep him a few more days. He
said that the earliest he would release Dad would be Monday. So
here’s the newest update:
-
Dad’s heart attack was very severe.
The doctor said that had he waitied 5 more minutes before calling
911, he probably wouldn’t be here right now. So thank God for
that. -
Because of the severity of the heart attack, Dad’s heart is
pretty damaged. His left ventricle is in bad shape. On a
healthy heart, the left ventricle works at 50%. Dad’s now only
works at 25%, which is not good. He also has a blood clot in the
left ventricle. He’s on two different medicines that are supposed
to break up the blood clot. (That is one of the main reasons they
want to keep him longer; they want to highly monitor the blood
clot.) Hopefully the blood clot will disolve. However,
there is a possibility that the clot could be pumped out of the heart
and into an artery. We really don’t want this to happen. This would be very bad.He has two blockages. One they were able to clear with an
angioplasty, the other they cleared by putting in a stent. (By
the way, he only has one stent, not two like I reported earlier.)
They did a second heart cath yesterday morning, and everything looks
fine. After Dad is released from the hospital, he has to go back to see
his doctor in 4 weeks. He won’t be able to return to work until
he sees his doctor, and there is no guarantee that he’ll even be able
to go back then. That means Dad is going to be out of work for at
least a month and a half or so. He thinks he has enough vacation,
personal, and sick days to take a month off, so that’s good.
After that, he’ll have to go on disability leave. Which means
he’ll only get half pay, but still keep the insurance (which is what we
really need). But, I am a little worried that this is going to
hurt us financially. We have enough financial problems as it is,
and this isn’t going to make it any better. But I know that God
will take care of us as He always does. -
Lastly, he’s starting cardiovascular rehab today. This
includes exercising and eating right, etc. Dad’s really going to
have a hard time with this. He has to completely change
his lifestyle, and it is going to be hard. But, it’s either stay
away from unhealthy food and live, or eat unhealthy food and die.
I’m pretty positive Dad would rather go with the former than the latter
I think that’s it. Mom told me a lot of stuff this morning, so I
may have forgotten something. Please continue to pray for my dad
and my family, especially my mom. First off, she’s exhausted
because she’s stayed at the hospital with Dad the past two
nights. She’s staying with Mike and Andrea tonight, though, so
she should get a good night’s sleep. Secondly, my mom worries a
lot. I just hope that she can relax and not worry and stress out
too much about everything.
Thanks again for all of your prayers!
You’re all in my prayers…. God will provide!
