I’ve mentioned before about how I feel like nothing is holding me back but me and that I struggle with making the best use of my time to be productive and really give this full time writing thing a shot. Well, still struggling.
I can’t believe it’s Friday already (AND March 1st!!). Weeks seem to just fly by. And then I feel like it’s just one more week of me not getting done all the things I feel I need to get done. One more week of me not getting this ball rolling and start putting dreams and aspirations into action.
Danielle LaPorte‘s Truthbomb hit me hard this morning:
I feel like I spend so much time in my head dreaming. I spend all this time thinking of what could be. I dream about my limitless possibilities and endless potential.
In a sense, this is a good thing considering the power of our thoughts and visualizations when creating our reality. It’s good to spend a lot of time in your head dreaming and feeling the feelings that come with what you want to experience.
But then I realize that I’ve spent the whole day “researching” or “brainstorming” and haven’t really gotten anything substantial done. Yes, it’s good to dream, but those dreams have to be turned into action. If you never act on those dreams and visions, they will just fade into oblivion, being one of those “could have been” experiences, because you chose not to work for it. You feel in love with potential instead of taking action and working hard towards your soul’s purpose.
If you truly believe that all things are possible, then you have the freedom to choose what things you want to happen in your life – your job, your family, your relationships, your success, even your health. (Dad…) 😉
So it’s good to spend some time in your head dreaming and thinking about all the possibilities that are out there. Play them all out in your head. Which one do you want?
Then pick one and take action. You have to choose – this is key! Choose what you want happen, right here, right now. And focus on it.
This is a good time to use an affirmation – to declare something to be.
During my meditation time today, my mind was reeling thinking of all the things I didn’t get done this week, even trying to convince myself to stop my meditation to go do those other things even though “meditating” was on the list of things that didn’t get done this week…sigh…it’s a constant battle of “What else could I/should I be doing to make this situation better?” instead of just enjoying the situation as is. Accepting my good. Choosing one thing to focus on instead of letting my mind jump around from task to task.
This causes me to have immense negative self-talk, a lot more than others, I’m realizing. I’m not really sure where this stems from (well, if you believe in astrology, it’s my Moon in Cancer that’s causing it all…my overwhelming emotions and wild imagination getting the best of me.) I have a hard time just accepting that things are good. I always seem to find little things here and there I can blow up and turn into drama and stress. But realizing all of this helps me battle this negative self-talk – by first accepting it and then replacing it with a positive affirmation.
So after finally quieting my mind and raising my thoughts higher, I was able to finish my meditation this morning. And while doing so, I came up with two new affirmations I’m going to start saying everyday to help me be more productive and inspired:
I am an organized, productive person. I use my time wisely and complete all of my tasks.
I am a successful writer and blogger. My message is peacefully received throughout the world.
Instead of falling in love with the endless potential of what could be, I choose and affirm my path, following my soul’s deepest desires.
What do you choose and affirm for your soul today. Please share in the comments below! I want this to be a community space where we can all grow together and become the best versions of ourselves we can be! I double-dog-dare you to come up with 1-2 affirmations that you say every morning to yourself and see how your life changes in a few weeks. You’ll feel more uplifted and inspired – I guarantee! 🙂
Love and Light!!
