This was my daily reading from Science of Mind this morning, and I just thought it was so good, I wanted to pass it along. I’ve been working a lot on shifting my perception from lack to abundance. It’s really hard sometimes, especially when finances get tight and I get stressed. But I’m learning that the more grateful I am, the more I acknowledge my abundance, the more abundance I have.
“What does it mean to be abundant? Is it abundance that we are after, or is it simply money? To most of us, abundance means money, but if we really think about it, it is much more than that. It includes relationships, health, happiness, creative freedom, experiences, and things. Abundance is about having combined with gratitude for what we do have. Ernest Holmes says, “Abundance is our natural state of being.
Abundance is the opposite of lack and limitation. There are those who seem to live in abundance, but do not really, because no matter how much a person with a “lack attitude” accumulates, he or she will never have enough. Our thinking creates abundance or lack, and our attitudes create the perception of abundance or lack. Abundance is a state of mind; abundance is determined by our thinking.
Having money is important. But behavioral science now supports the spiritual contention that it is not money, it is having a sense of purpose and a connection to a greater idea – a greater power – that gives life meaning, value, and, therefore, its importance. And we simply don’t have to choose one over the other. If we are living inspired lives, living in “lack” will be impossible. Living an inspired life will result in increased aliveness, and when that occurs, good things have a tendency to hang around.”
We create our most lasting legacy not in what we leave behind, but in the way we live, and especially the way we live with money. – Lynne Twist
“Free yourself forever from the thought that God may be pleased by a life of sacrifice, that the world is any better because of your misery, or that righteousness is more perfectly expressed through poverty than abundance.” – Science of Mind
