So…I haven’t posted in forever, but I live a very boring life. So, here’s just some random updating:
First off, big congrats to my Uncle Merle for being named Song Ramp’s Artist of the Month!!
Song Ramp is a music community website. You can go and post your
own songs and what not. It’s actually pretty cool. (D,
you should totally check this out!!) Anyway, my Uncle is one of
the most talented people I know. He’s amazing. He has a
recording studio in his house. You can go to his site
on Song Ramp and listen to a few of his songs. He does everything
himself. He plays every instrument you hear. It’s
amazing. He’s made a few CD’s, but only given them to family and
close friends. He’s apparently working on a new CD and hopes to
have it finished by Christmas. He could totally make it in the
music business, but he doesn’t really want to. He so amazingly
talented, but he’s so humble about it. He just does it because he
loves it. He has such a strong passion for music, and he doesn’t
care if he gets famous or anything. He just simply plays because
he loves it. It’s actually really funny because if you saw my
Uncle Merle walking down the street, you would have no idea of the
talent that lies within him. Being an amazing musician is
probably the last thing you would think he is. Seriously though,
if you guys get a chance, go visit his site and check out his
stuff. (Especially you, D. I really think you’d like it.)
So, what’s going on in Kim’s life? Not a lot. I’m working
at the church quite a bit now. I spend most of the afternoons
during the week up there. We’re going to be starting a whole new
Sunday morning schedule and activities, so I’m busy getting everything
organized for that and what not. I’m really excited about it,
though. It’s going to be so much more fun. Right now,
Sunday mornings are kinda boring to be honest with you. But, I’m
going to be spicing it up a bit and hopefully it will be a lot more
fun. Tonight was the last night of F.R.O.G.S (our Sunday night
program) for the summer, which is kinda nice. It’ll be nice to
have a break for the summer. I’m already planning all sorts of
fun activities for the summer like weeks at Camp Illiana,
Family Game Night, Family Movie Night, and a trip to Holiday
World. I’m really excited about this summer and all the fun stuff
planned.
My little brother, Dusty,
graduated from high school this weekend. That’s just a little bit
crazy… It’s so weird to think that it’s been two years since I
graduated…time flies. There were also a lot of people retiring
this year. Our Principal (Mr. Chickadaunce aka “Chick”),
Superintendent (Mr. Medsker), and Dean of Girls/Senior English teacher
(Mrs. McCammon) all retired. So, that made graduation all the
more emotional. I was reading Aub’s blog the other day and saw
all the problems her old school is having with their Principal, and it
made me feel really blessed. I know I gripe about being from a
small town/school and everything, but I really was blessed with an
amazing school administration. Mr. Chickadaunce was an amazing
principal. He knew all of his students on a very personal level,
and his students’ well being was always his first priority.
Medsker was just an awesome, fun guy, and the biggest metrosexual I
have ever seen! He gets manicures….that’s says enough.
But, he was a great teacher and superintendent. Mrs. McCammon was
awesome!! She was by far my favorite teacher in high
school. She was another one who just knew the students on such a
personal level. She always wanted to know what was going on in
our lives and always supported us. She was the kind of teacher
who you could just sit and talk to the entire class period. On
multiple occasions, we would waste the entire class time just sitting
and talking with her. Chick, Medsker, and Mrs. McCammon are all
amazing people and will definitely be missed.
(I love how I never post, and then when I do, it’s ten pages long … )
I have to admit that with all of the festivities this weekend, I
realized that my high school career wasn’t really as bad as I always
thought it was. Usually, I would say that I don’t miss high
school at all and that it didn’t really have a huge impact on my
life. But now, I really think it has. I don’t really miss
it because my life is TONS better now than it was in high school, but I
did have some really good times. Like I said before, I was
blessed with an amazing school administration. I had an amazing
group of friends (well, I still do have an amazing group of
friends!) That’s the other thing. Even though I graduated
two years ago, I still have amazing relationships with all of my
closest high school friends. They were my best friends two years
ago, and they still are my best friends. I don’t know, I guess I
just kinda realized this week how blessed I was to have the experiences
in high school that I had.
I’m getting married in one year and five days!!!! (I’m not counting down or anything…)
I’ve been planning a little bit of stuff, but I don’t want to get into
any heavy duty planning since I still have over a year. I’ve
decided on light blue and silver as the colors, daisies as the flowers,
and stars for the reception theme. Music is my biggest
stress. Music is just such a big part of my life and Cory’s life,
and I want it to be perfect. I want to play the perfect songs
that are just so perfectly us! I don’t want a traditional
wedding. I was unique songs that just fit me and Cory. I’ve
found one so far which I think we’re going to play when the mothers
light the candles and are seated. Other than that, I’m
clueless. I’m trying not to stress out to much…but what the
heck am I going to walk down the aisle to??!!
Well, I really could keep going on about random things that have been
on my mind, but I think this is long enough for one post. Maybe
in a few weeks I’ll post some more.
Thanks for the comment…you’ll have your own students soon!! Congrats on your engagement (somebody has to keep Cory in line).
